Department of Mathematics and Science Education
Department of Physics Education

Assist. Prof. Dr. Erol Süzük (Head of the Program)

The Physics Teacher Education program, which is carried out in the Department of Physics Education, was established to meet the teacher needs of secondary education institutions.

In order to be placed in the 4-year undergraduate Physics Education program, student candidates must take the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) and Field Proficiency Test (AYT) in the Higher Education Institutions Exams (YKS) organized by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). It provides 4-year undergraduate education to students who are placed with YKS Numerical score. Courses are conducted on a semester basis.

There are 3 professors and 1 assoss. professor faculty member in this division. In addition to the compulsory field courses that develop and mature field knowledge, there are also elective courses for students' interests and abilities. Theoretical courses are supported by applications in the laboratory. In computer courses, practical and up-to-date information is given and computers are utilized in the existing computer laboratories. There are 3 laboratories in our department, 1 general physics laboratory, 1 material design and 1 outdoor physics laboratory. In addition, internships are done in secondary (high school) schools for students to train themselves in the teaching profession.

Students who want to do academic work have the opportunity to do master's and doctoral education. Students enrolled in the graduate program, after successfully completing the courses required by the department, do a thesis study. Students who graduate from here have the opportunity to work as teachers in public or private schools, private tutoring centers, as well as academic staff in various universities.
